UAW Local 2166 was formed in May of 1981 to represent the hourly workforce at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Shreveport LA. Over the last 30 years this workforce has built the small and midsized Chevrolet, GMC, Isuzu, and Hummer Brands of vehicles. In 2002 GM invested over 1.2 billion dollars updating this facility to make it one of the newest and
most modern facilities in all of the General Motors Corporation.
We are currently building the Chevy Colorado and GMC
Canyon pickup trucks.
